Volunteers of America-Northern New Jersey Honored by New Jersey State Senate for Service to New Jerseyans in Need
Organization recognized for 130 years of service and support for New Jersey communities.
NEW JERSEY – Volunteers of America-Northern New Jersey (VOA-NNJ) was recognized in an official proclamation from the New Jersey State Senate in honor of the organization’s 130th anniversary of serving the Garden State.
The proclamation, granted by Senator Andrew Zwicker, recognizes VOA-NNJ (a division of VOA-GNY) as one of the earliest adopters of the supportive housing model and a trailblazer in foster youth services, highlighting its work to improve the quality of life for countless individuals and families experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, and advocating for legislation to address New Jersey’s housing crisis.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this distinction from the state of New Jersey in recognition of the trust we’ve built, as well as our track record of bold innovation and unwavering commitment to housing stability for all,” said Dr. Jeffrey R. Ginsburg, President and CEO of VOA-GNY. “We look forward to continuing to serve local residents in need and we thank the New Jersey State Senate for this honor.”
This distinction comes when the need to address the housing and homeless crisis is greater than ever, with nearly 14,000 individuals experiencing homelessness in New Jersey, the most the state has seen in a decade. Over 400 youth and adults receive support from VOA-NNJ each year, including adults in need of stable housing and other behavioral health services and youth aging out of foster care who may be at risk of homelessness.
