City & State: Simon Kawitzky Named in Who’s Who in Affordable Housing
Simon Kawitzky, Senior Vice President of Real Estate at Volunteers of America-Greater New York, is among the top leaders finding solutions to the city’s housing crisis, according to City & State‘s inaugural Who’s Who in Affordable Housing. The list includes government officials, developers, advocates and others creating and perserving housing for low-to-middle income households.
Simon joined VOA-GNY in December to help expand its pipeline of affordable housing and temporary shelter projects. VOA-GNY is anticipated to leverage $550 million in public and private investment to develop 1,700 units of affordable apartments over the next five years.
Simon brings a wealth of experience in developing and preserving affordable housing in New York City, with a focus on innovative design and incorporating community input. As Vice President at New York Housing Authority (NYCHA), he played a key role in advancing projects under the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program. Previously, he was an Assistant Commissioner at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).
