Veronica Ortega, Property and Asset Management Associate for our Real Estate team, brings dedication and heart to everything she does.

In her role, Veronica helps oversee asset management, ensuring VOA-GNY properties are well maintained, financially sustainable, and efficiently operated so residents have safe, stable homes. Her work touches on everything from budgets and rent collection, to maintenance and funder compliance. More notably, she also leads VOA-GNY’s new “humanization project”—a rapid-response, trauma-informed effort to reimagine our program spaces. By partnering with frontline staff on low-cost, high-impact changes like lighting, paint color, and furniture, Veronica helps turn common rooms and other functional spaces into calmer, more welcoming environments for our clients.

This approach also extends to programs like EmpowerRent, a new wealth-building initiative that helps residents build up their credit simply by reporting their rent payments, ultimately supporting their long-term financial stability. By connecting property management with financial education, Veronica helps residents see the bigger picture: timely rent payments aren’t just obligations—they’re steps toward empowerment and economic resilience.

Driven by service, Veronica looks for ways to meet needs wherever she can. As lead coordinator of our Ministry Team, Veronica brings her professional work and spiritual calling together. “It’s about supporting others, planting seeds of hope, and making a real impact,” she shares. One initiative she’s especially proud of is Boxes of Hope, which provided 60 food bags to 30 households across Northern New Jersey and New York City during the holidays.

Outside of work, she grounds herself through gardening, fitness, and mindful breathing. Whether behind the scenes or leading initiatives, Veronica lives out our mission through her faith, service, and teamwork. Thank you, Veronica, for the care and compassion you bring to VOA-GNY every day.
