From placing vouchers to supporting move-outs, Quincy helps make the path to permanent housing feel possible.

Quincy Hernandez, Case Manager & Housing Specialist at Paul Family Residence, one of our emergency shelters in Manhattan, helps clients move from instability into permanent housing while feeling supported every step of the way. 

Since joining VOA-GNY nearly two years ago, Quincy has become a steady and trusted presence for clients navigating New York City’s housing system—often for the first time. His approach begins with empathy and moves quickly into action. “[Residents] can have a lot of frustration navigating social services in the city; it can be incredibly difficult,” he explains. Quincy focuses on ensuring clients feel heard before working together to identify clear, practical next steps.

From determining eligibility to placing vouchers, searching for apartments, and supporting move-outs, he helps make the path to permanent housing feel possible. 

Early in his role, Quincy supported a migrant family of six who had cycled through multiple case managers. Despite being new to the position, he took full initiative—seeking guidance, doing research, and working closely with the family until they secured permanent housing. It was his first successful move-out and a defining moment in his early career. 

“Earning their trust by consistently showing up—that’s what stays with me,” he reflects. 

Today, Quincy keeps a visual reminder of the families he has supported: a growing collection of photos on his office door marking each successful move into permanent housing. Since then, he has helped secure housing for 21 families.
