Family Shelter

Housing Brooklyn, Manhattan, The Bronx

Service Overview

Domestic violence is one of the leading causes of family homelessness in New York City. We offer a number of transitional residences for survivors and their children, providing comprehensive services to help them achieve independence and obtain permanent housing. Transitional housing is usually the step taken after an individual or a family has entered an emergency shelter before permanent housing can be found.

Our program sites offer individual apartments for families with 24-hour security, on-site childcare, and recreational space.

What We Do

Case managers and other specialists work with survivors to develop a comprehensive service plan and provide information, advocacy and referrals to the services they need to achieve their ultimate goal of housing stability. This may include ongoing supportive counseling or primary healthcare, assistance securing benefits to which they are entitled, childcare services, connection to career workshops or job training, and support finding permanent housing.
