Service Overview
Behavioral health services are a fundamental component of much of the work we do at VOA-GNY. Our specialized Behavioral Health Housing programs offer more intensive on-site support services than typical supportive housing programs, designed to meet the emotional, psychiatric, psychological, substance related, or behavioral needs of our clients.
Through individually-tailored case management and the support of a highly-skilled and compassionate team that includes licensed mental health counselors, licensed social workers, registered nurses and other practitioners, we help clients manage their health and live as independently as possible in the community.
Referrals for our Behavioral Health Housing programs are made through New York City and State agencies.

Our team of mental health professionals, social workers, and other practitioners, work in partnership with clients to deliver trauma-informed care in a variety of settings, supporting each individual’s wellness goals.
Sites and Programs
67-Unit Community Residence
Wales Avenue Residence, located in the Fordham area of the Bronx, provides safe and supportive housing to adults and young adults who experience chronic homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
65-Unit Community Residence
Creston Avenue Residence is a 65-unit residence located in the Fordham area of the Bronx that provides housing to single adults and families who experience chronic homelessness or are at risk of homelessness, as well as veterans and families that meet income eligibility requirements and do not require supportive services.
72-Unit Single Room Occupancy Residence
Booth House is jointly operated by VOA-GNY and the Institute for Community Living, which provides social services. The residence features single room occupancy units for 72 single adults.
17-Bed Residence for Men
Crossroads is a residential program that houses 17 single men. The program provides quality, individualized treatment in a structured community setting.
8-Bed Group Home
Myrtle House is an 8-bed group home that serves clients in Middlesex County.
8-Bed Group Home
Theodora House is an 8-bed group home for clients in Union County.
15-Bed Group Home
Bay City Residence is a 15-bed group home licensed by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
9-Bed Group Home
Maud House is a 9-bed group home for clients in Union County.

Middlesex Supportive Apartments are part of our CSS program in Middlesex County, through which we help clients live independently in the community.

Perth Amboy Apartments in Middlesex County are part of our CSS program, through which we serve 10 clients in a building owned by VOA-GNY.
