Industry Veteran Ayesha Khan Joins Volunteers of America-Greater New York as Chief Development Officer

Ms. Khan To Lead Organization’s Philanthropic Efforts And Ideate Strategy To Advance Community Impact

NEW YORK – Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-GNY) today announced that Ayesha Khan, a philanthropic strategy expert with nearly two decades of experience at leading international nonprofits including International Rescue Committee and Lumos Foundation, has joined the organization as the new Chief Development Officer.

Ms. Khan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise as a leader in the philanthropic sector, having overseen global fundraising strategy and operations proposal development, emergency response, and program design and implementation. This experience will enable her to successfully identify and secure opportunities to further VOA-GNY’s mission to serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Khan has joined VOA-GNY at an inflection point for the region, as New York City faces unprecedented levels of homelessness and a critical shortage of affordable housing. In her new role, Khan leads VOA-GNY’s fundraising efforts and is responsible for developing and implementing a plan that leverages public and private support including corporate, foundation, staff, and individual/major donors, while building a culture of philanthropy at all levels of VOA-GNY.

Prior to joining VOA-GNY, Ms. Khan led the Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services Team at the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Previously, she held senior roles at the Lumos Foundation and the Feeding America network. Ms. Khan started her career advocating for educational access in underserved communities which fostered her passion for working with vulnerable children and families

Ms. Khan’s efforts will drive community support around existing initiatives such as the annual Operation Backpack® campaign, as well as various efforts to expand the housing, health, and wealth-building services offered to individuals and families in need across New York City, Westchester County, and Northern New Jersey.
