Careers in New York City

VOA-Greater New York operates dozens of programs located throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. We offer a continuum of housing services in New York, including temporary shelters for both families and individuals, as well as permanent supportive housing. 

Positions at our NYC programs include front desk staff, case managers, social workers, and program directors, among many other experienced and entry-level roles. We also have a number of positions open at our administrative office in Midtown Manhattan in the areas such as finance, information technology, human resources, real estate, public policy, and communications.

The Bronx Early Learning Center (BELC) is our special education preschool for children age 2.9-5 years old who have developmental delays or disabilities. At the school, teams of dedicated and highly-skilled teachers, therapists and other related services staff provide individualized learning experiences. VOA-GNY is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Public Policy to serve as VOA-GNY’s primary liaison to the offices of federal, state, and local public officials and to develop and implement an ambitious legislative agenda and work with a broad range of stakeholders. Responsibilities include analyzing and track legislation, regulations, and policies that impact VOA-GNY, and drafting persuasive testimony, memos, and talking points that amplify VOA-GNY’s policy priorities and technical expertise. Careers in New Jersey

VOA-Greater New York has a number of programs in Northern New Jersey including housing and other support services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental health challenges and services for at-risk youth. The team consists of residential counselors, program managers, nurses, maintenance workers and many others in cities like Edison, Elizabeth, Fanwood, Jersey City, Perth Amboy, Plainfield and Rahway.

In Westchester County, VOA-Greater New York operates a residential reintegration program in New Rochelle for men recovering from alcohol or substance use.

  • Client Care Worker

    Fabienne landed a Client Care Worker position at one of VOA-Greater New York’s shelters, a job she enjoys more than she ever imagined she would. “I see myself in the people I work with. I want to do something [for them].”

  • Front Desk Monitor

    Ramonita, a Front Desk Monitor at our permanent supportive housing residence in Upper Manhattan, always handles every event with grace. “This is like my second home,” she says, of Salyer House. “And helping people is what I like to do.”

  • Maintenance Team

    Anthony is the Director of Maintenance for two of our supportive housing programs on the Upper West Side. “The staff is like family,” he says, “And when I say family, I don’t mean we always get along — I mean a family like brothers and sisters — you don’t always get along, but we are joined by a common purpose.”
