About Jeff
Jeffrey R. Ginsburg is the President & CEO of Volunteers of America-Greater New York, among the largest and most effective organizations addressing the housing, homelessness and mental health crises in the region.
Prior to joining VOA-GNY, Jeff was the longtime CEO of East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP), as well as the CEO and Co-Founder of East Harlem Scholars Academies. With Hunter College’s School of Education, Jeff also co-founded the East Harlem Teaching Residency. Jeff remains on the Leadership Council to EHTP’s Board.
Before joining EHTP, Jeff was the founding director of United Way’s Math, Science & Technology initiative (MSTi), a program that grew from sixty students to a statewide after-school program hailed by Senator Edward Kennedy as “what the future of nonprofit should look like.”
Jeff is a graduate of Trinity College and Harvard’s Kennedy School and expects to complete his Doctorate from Fordham University in 2025.
In addition to his position on the EHTP Leadership Council, Jeff is a McSilver Fellow at New York University, is a member of the Trinity College Board of Fellows and the Dean’s Council at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Jeff and his extended family founded and supports the Tanger Hillel at CUNY’s Brooklyn College, which ranks among the largest and most active chapters in the world.
Jeff is a recipient of Crain’s “40 under 40”, New York Theological Seminary’s “Urban Angel” Award, and a McSilver Award from New York University. In 2024, Jeff was named among the “Responsible 100” of New York by City & State, and a “Nonprofit Power Player” by amNY.
Jeff is a frequent guest lecturer on leadership, governance, organizational culture, and philanthropy, and has been a volunteer teacher or mentor for many students over the last 20 years. Under the moniker “Jones One,” Jeff remains a musician and songwriter, with his latest album “Right Here” having been streamed over 200,000 times.
He is married to Erin K. Blakeley, a speechwriter and essayist, and is the dad joke provider for Liam, Cathleen, and Conor.
