Youth Transitional Housing

Housing New Jersey

Service Overview

Young people thrive in environments where they feel safe and supported. Our out-of-home residential programs in Northern New Jersey provide a stable environment to youth who are preparing to age out of foster care and into adulthood. Our skilled and committed staff also offer guidance and opportunities to develop the skills needed to live independently.

In addition to experiencing, or being at risk of, homelessness, some of these young adults may also experience emotional, behavioral and/or psychological challenges. Our youth programs have passed rigorous standards set by the internationally renowned organization, the Council on Accreditation, enabling our clients to thrive in a stable environment.

Sites and Programs

Youth Transitional Housing The Step-Up Program is for young adults, ages 18-20 who have been in the foster care system or who are at risk of homelessness. These youth age out on their 21st birthday. The program provides case management services to assist and prepare clients to live independently.

A Second Chance

After aging out of foster care, Tiffany was transferred to an independent living program. At first, she struggled to adjust in the program and clashed with other youth. But her case manager saw potential in Tiffany and helped give her a second chance.
