A MESSAGE ABOUT VOLUNTEERING & COVID-19
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and our priority to ensure the safety of our clients, staff and volunteers, in-person volunteer activities scheduled to take place at VOA-Greater New York program sites are postponed. On behalf of our clients, we are very disappointed of course, and look forwarding to rescheduling projects just as soon as we safely can.

As a Strategic Partner you will make a significant impact in the lives of men, women and children in need in the New York metropolitan area while providing your employees with meaningful, year-round engagement opportunities customized for you.
Prior to the pandemic, in-person activities included one-off projects such as painting the common areas in a veterans residence, or volunteering during Operation Backpack®, planning a carnival for the children at our Bronx and Staten Island preschools, or hosting a meal at our residence for adults living with HIV/AIDS in Manhattan.
Skills-based activities include helping the women in our shelter in Queens prepare for job interviews, or holding budgeting and credit-repair workshops for formerly homeless adults. These offerings translate nicely to a virtual experience during these times of social distancing and we continue to develop new, meaningful activities to add to our portfolio.
Some of our Partners choose to “adopt” a program, getting to know the clients and staff through in-person and virtual birthday celebrations and special events, organizing drives to collect seasonal and other items, responding to Secret Santa letters, holding workshops for food shopping on a budget, and more.
Depending on the level of Partnership, other benefits may include Official Sponsorship of Operation Backpack®—our signature community service campaign—and the promotional opportunities that entails, or our annual gala A New York Winter’s Eve.
