Over the Rainbow: Imagining a Future Without Homelessness

On April 17, we gathered at the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel for a fantastical event celebrating the courage of our clients, the heart of our honorees, and the work of VOA-GNY helping individuals and families in need find their way home.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams delivered a welcome address and the evening was emceed by Willie Geist, host of NBC’s Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist and co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. VOA-GNY raised a record 1.3 million dollars for our mission of ending homelessness in the New York area and our 65+ housing, health, and wealth-building programs.

For over five years Cerberus has unwaveringly supported VOA-GNY and our Operation Backpack® campaign, helping ensure thousands of children living in shelters across New York City have the school supplies they need to thrive in the classroom and beyond. The award will be accepted by Kristen Shanley (Director, Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) who leads these and other corporate social responsibility efforts for Cerberus.

Having been involved in the entertainment industry from the age of four when she appeared on “Sesame Street” opposite her father, Matthew Robinson, who played the beloved character of ‘Gordon,’ Holly has since become recognizable to viewers for her work on multiple television series, including “21 Jump Street,” “Chicago Fire,” and more. This evening we celebrate her generous heart and exceptional efforts to make a difference in the lives of youth through the HollyRod Foundation, which she founded to help families impacted by autism and Parkinson’s disease.

HAILEE KALEEM WRIGHT

After struggling with homelessness as a young adult, Hailee rose above her difficult circumstances to achieve her dream of becoming a successful entertainment professional. Today she stars in the Broadway Musical “Six,” playing Catherine of Aragon, the first of Henry VIII’s six wives. We are thrilled to recognize Hailee’s extraordinary resilience and remarkable achievement.
