VOA-GNY Board Chair Reginald Goins On the Lasting Impact of Corporate Giving

Reginald Goins at VOA-GNY’s 2025 Annual Gala

Reginald Goins, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Honickman Companies and Board Chair of Volunteers of America-Greater New York, wrote an op-ed on the vital role corporate philanthropy plays in building stronger, more resilient communities.

Goins explains the importance of understanding the challenges faced by the communities his company operates in.

“Whether it’s housing insecurity or under-resourced schools, the needs are real — and we believe it’s our duty to show up as a partner in the community,” he writes. “Simply put, our community service is our license to do business in those communities.”

Goins urges corporations to partner with non-profits who are doing the work in their community and to stay engaged.

As Board Chair of Volunteers of America-Greater New York, Goins has helped sustain VOA-GNY programs for families and children experiencing homelessness in the region. Through his leadership, the Honickman Companies have supported initiatives like Operation Backpack®, which ensures kids in shelters throughout New York City are equipped with new school supplies, and has sponsored VOA-GNY’s annual fundraising gala.
