Help ensure children in New York City's homeless and domestic violence shelters are prepared for the new school year: donate to our CrowdRise campaign. You can also donate school supplies in bulk any time of year. We especially need USB drives, academic planners and scientific calculators. Please email email@example.com to make a bulk donation of supplies.
Starter Kits are essential for veterans and young adults who are moving out of our residences into homes of their own. Suggested items include:
- Bedding Sets
- Pots, pans, dishware and utensils
- Hygiene items
- Cleaning supplies
Many of the women and children entering our family or domestic violence shelters arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs. Help them feel welcome as they enter our continuum of care. Suggested items include:
- Bedding sets (twin size)
- Hygiene items
Hygiene is a fundamental component of self-care, but can often become a luxury in the lives of people who are homeless. Contribute to the well-being and self-esteem of a client in one of our homeless shelters by putting together a Hygiene kit. Items include:
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Feminine hygiene products
- Hair brush and comb
We accept donations year-round for new, unworn clothing items that our clients need. Please shop our "Gifts of the Heart" Amazon Wishlist to have your purchase directly delivered to our headquarters. Here are a few types of items our clients appreciate most:
- Winter clothing items: hats, scarves, and gloves
- Dress suits and clothes for interviews
- Baby and toddler clothes
- Metro Cards (with at least $10.00 on them, as our clients our actively searching for jobs, attending school, etc.)
- $25 Gift Cards
- Resume portfolios, briefcases, professional-looking purses
Birthday Party Supplies:
Help brighten the birthday of a child living in one of our homeless or domestic violence shelters by donating party supplies, toys, and gift cards to our Brightening Birthdays program, shopping our Amazon wishlist, or building your own Birthday in a Box. Donations are accepted year-round as we hold Brightening Birthdays parties monthly. Call us at (212) 496-4307 if you would like to underwrite one of the parties and/or attend as a volunteer.
