Employee Conference 2019 Photo Gallery
On Friday, June 7, nearly 400 employees from across VOA-Greater New York attended the 2019 Employee Conference. This year's conference, themed The Power of Presence, took place at Riverside Church, and offered staff members the chance to pause during their work week, meet some of our board members, and enjoy the guest speakers and camaraderie.
The conference featured keynote speaker Joy Thomas Moore, a Peabody Award-winner and author of the book The Power of Presence, a copy of which was gifted to each attendee. Moore's heartfelt talk was followed by an enthusiastic presentation from Reverend Stanley Talbert, a Ph.D. candidate at Union Theological Seminary.
Employees celebrating 25+ years of service with VOA-GNY were recognized, including: Lloyd Caesar, Avia Rose, Roseann Velazquez, Doreen Nixon, Isaac Karim Kamara, Phil Freels, Myrna Clemente, Naomi Curtis, Andre Johnson, Marisol Morales, Georgianna Armstrong, Denise Sullivan, Luz Martinez, Rosa Diaz and Vanessa Burton.
To close out the day, eight employees were honored with VOA-GNY Spirit Awards for exemplifying the Shared Values each day. The recipients included: Erica Gilmore-Odjodu and Ysa Bogle-Martin, Maralin Taylor and Shai Nissim, Gerrard Blake, Alvaro Salas and La'Tanya Johnson, Mariel Cruceta, Amy Mineo, Karin McFadden and David Ganesh.
