Partner Spotlight: Prologis

Sometimes, one event is all it takes to make a connection.

In May of 2018, our friends at Prologis organized their annual "Impact Day" project — a company-wide day of giving — at Volunteers of America-Greater New York's domestic violence shelter in Queens. The team donated a new grill and hosted an outdoor cookout with delicious food and games for the kids. That day, they also brightened the shelter by giving some of the clients' apartments a fresh coat of paint.

Eager to stay involved with the shelter after Impact Day, Prologis raised funds for Operation Backpack® and volunteered at Sort Week to help prepare and fill the backpacks for distribution — not only to children living at our domestic violence shelter — but to students throughout the New York City shelter system. Their impact continued to grow.

The Prologis team stayed in contact with staff from our domestic violence shelter, and continued to help fulfill their needs by replacing a fence along the property. Over the holidays, both the Queens and New Jersey Prologis offices generously collected funds from their staff and vendors in support of Volunteers of America-Greater New York's programs. Using their special connection to the domestic violence shelter, Prologis answered "Dear Santa" letters from children living there, providing gifts not only to the children, but also for the parents, and hosted a holiday meal for all of the families before Christmas.

To date, they have has raised over $10,000, and have recently set aside funds for a backyard play set, childcare classroom calendar, and classroom decorations. Prologis has gone above and beyond to show these families that they care — and we can't thank them enough for their generosity!
