Director of Domestic Violence Services, NYC Specialized Housing & Veterans Initiatives
Ana Rolon, Director of Domestic Violence Services, has 21 years of progressive clinical experience, including six years overseeing the domestic violence programs at VOA-GNY. As Director, she manages the operation of three emergency shelters as well as off-site dwellings, provides clinical consultation, and acts as a resource for her staff. In addition, she is involved with community outreach in the Greater New York City area and assists with the cultivation of donors, community board partners, and governmental relations.
She is active within several professional associations at the city, state, and national level. She serves on the New York City Mayor’s Domestic Violence Task Force, on the Housing and Economic Justice Sub-Committee; The New York City Continuum of Care (NYCCOC) representing the Domestic Violence Providers Coalition as a Voting Member of the NYCCOC; The City of New York Mayor’s Youth Homelessness Task Force; The New York City Human Resources Administration Domestic Violence Task Force; The 75th Precinct Community Council, as a Meeting Member; the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence; as well as the New York City Coalition Against Domestic Violence - Steering Committee - At-large Member. She also is on the Volunteers of America National Trauma-Informed Care Advisory Group.
Before joining VOA, Ms. Rolon worked at the Children’s Home Society of Florida and then the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services as an Administrative Supervisor, where she ran the day-to-day-operations of a domestic violence shelter. She was awarded Social Worker of the Year in June 2000 by the Florida Educational Foundation for the Advancement of Child Welfare and the Innovator Award from the Children’s Home Society of Florida in 2006.
Ms. Rolon received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from St. John’s University and holds a Master’s in Social Work from Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work. She also holds certifications in Small Business Management from NYU and a Certificate of Paralegal Studies from Baruch College.
