Reintegrating into the community after incarceration is a daunting process and without support systems and preparations made in advance, recidivism is all too likely to result.

Community Reentry includes two community residences in Northern New Jersey, where more than 200 offenders each year prepare for reentry into society.

Queens Forensic Linkage
The Queens Forensic Linkage Transition Program serves 750 men and women living in Queens who have been arrested, detained by the police or spent time in jail, and also live with serious mental illness. As its name implies, Queens Forensic Linkage Transition Program serves as a bridge between the prison system - Rikers Island and the Queens House of Detention - and community.

Working with inmates before their discharge and continuing to provide support for at least two years following their release, the program’s primary objective is to ensure that offenders living with mental illness are prepared to make a successful transition from confinement to community living, and reduce and hopefully eliminate the need for hospitalization or re-incarceration.
