Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering Provides Immeasurable Rewards
Volunteers of America was founded in 1896 by social reformers Maud and Ballington Booth who galvanized tens of thousands of men and women.to become actively engaged in their communities. Maud and Ballington Booth embodied the spirit of volunteerism. Volunteers of America continues in the Booths' footsteps by providing meaningful opportunities for the public to experience the tremendous satisfaction of serving others through volunteering.
Volunteers tutor children, sort toys and school supplies, plant gardens, chaperone children on field trips, assist in the office and much more. Some of the volunteer opportunities available in the Greater New York area include:
Working with Children
Office and Computer Support
Building Maintenance and Landscaping
Art, Culture and Recreation
