Operation Backpack

This year, thousands more children than last year will rely on Operation Backpack in order to go to school prepared…

…and so we must rely on the generosity of thousands of individuals, like you, to help make a difference in the lives of these children.

Every year, Operation Backpack provides backpacks filled with grade-specific school supplies to children living in New York City’s homeless and domestic violence shelters. Last year, we responded to more than 16,100 backpack requests.  As of today, we have received 18,500 requests from shelters and they’re still coming in.

At this rate, we anticipate needing to raise more than $440,000 to ensure that every child living in a NYC homeless shelter is prepared for the first day of school.
