Corporate and Group Opportunities

Corporate volunteers engage in a wide range of activities from gardening and tutoring, to fund raising and organizing drives. Our major, annual corporate opportunities include:

Holiday Drives: November & December
Companies and other community groups organize drives to collect new toys for children in our programs, and gifts for older adults and adults with disabilities who are in need.

A New York Winter’s Eve Gala: December 7
Volunteers of America's most important annual fundraiser is an elegant and inspiring evening. Generous corporations and individuals sponsor tables and raise funds to support the vital work of Volunteers of America, including the Holiday Food Voucher Program

Birthday Wishes. Host a birthday party one (or every) month, for children whose birthdays might otherwise go unrecognized, in our shelters.
 Operation Backpack: July & August
The city's largest back-to-school drive, benefiting children living in area shelters. This year, we collected, packed and distributed more than 8,000 brand-new backpacks full of grade-specific school supplies for children in homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters and transitional housing programs throughout the New York metropolitan area. But we had requests for more than 10,000! Your contribution in advance of the 2012 drive could help us source and purchase supplies, so that no child in need will be left out next year.

Bowl to Give Back: June 13
Volunteers of America's Bowl to Give Back 2011 was a smashing success. Teams from generous corporate sponsors, along with individual donors and friends of VOA, gathered on June 13, at the brand-new Bowlmor Lanes Times Square. By the end of the night, a new record had been set for this event, with more than $90,000 net being raised for Volunteers of America's vital social services.

The Corporate Partnership Program: Throughout the year
  • One-time Events.  Underwrite and host a holiday party, summer carnival, field trip or other event in NYC.
  • Ongoing Activities with Students.  Provide a summer work experience for a new high school grad about to age-out of foster care in New Jersey.  Provide after-school reading help.
  • Adopt-a-Program.  Be the “go to” company when one of our programs needs help during the year; celebrate holidays; hold drives or raise money to provide the program with items on their wish list.
