Staten Island Early Learning Center

Serving Children with Special Needs
For young children, discovery and exploration are enhanced in a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes growth and development. Volunteers of America’s Staten Island Early Learning Center is a model program providing comprehensive educational experiences for children with cognitive or language impairments, social and emotional difficulties, or sensory and motor problems.

Support for families
Volunteers of America’s Staten Island Early Learning Center understands that parents who have a child with special needs are concerned about their child’s development. Our teachers welcome parents/caregivers at our school and offer help to families by providing support groups, individual counseling and other social work services. Parents are offered educational workshops on behavior management, health and hygiene issues, language development, fine-motor development, parental rights and advocacy.

The Staten Island Early Learning Center also provides assistance in obtaining appropriate public school placement when a child is about to transition out of pre-kindergarten.

SEIT Program
Committed to maximizing the learning potential of every child in our care, the Staten Island Early Learning Center also offers Special Education Itinerant Teachers (SEIT) with expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
