Planned Giving

Ranked by Worth Magazine as "One of the Best," Volunteers of America is one of the oldest and most respected human services organizations in the nation. The Greater New York affiliate alone serves more than 37,000 people each year, providing shelter, education, training and permanent supportive housing to the homeless. We also help children with special needs, mentally-ill adults, pre-parolees, at-risk youth, women and children escaping violent domestic situations, and others, but we are always striving to reach even more people who are in desperate need of help. You can help.

Besides donating online there are a number of ways you can support Volunteers of America.

Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity is an excellent way to achieve your philanthropic goals while assuring yourself, or a designated beneficiary, a guaranteed income for life.
  Bequests and Trusts
We honor those who intend to remember Volunteers of America in their will, by naming them to The Myrtle Society. Bequests and other types of planned giving contributions are worthwhile and gratifying ways to support Volunteers of America while typically reducing estate taxes.
Guardian Circle
Guardian Circle members are loyal and generous supporters of Volunteers of America. They express their commitment to helping those most in need by becoming members of this special, annual giving program.

Appreciated Securities - A Gift that Saves Taxes Twice!
Why not, when considering a gift to Volunteers America, make a gift of appreciated securities instead of cash? Any securities you own that have increased in value since you bought them, are subject to capital gains when you sell them. However, when you make a gift of these securities to Volunteers of America – as long as you have held them for at least one year - you receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value as of the date of transfer.

Each gift – no matter its size – helps make it possible for Volunteers of America to continue to do the vital work we do.
