Corporate Programs

Corporations Behind the Cause

Business leaders and corporate volunteers play an integral role in working with Volunteers of America to enrich the lives of the most needy in our communities.

There are unlimited opportunities for promoting the volunteer spirit within an organization, from leading a hat and mitten drive to ensure homeless men stay warm in the bitter cold, to sponsoring a table at our annual a New York Christmas gala benefit.

Sponsorship Opportunities with Sidewalk Santas

Our century-old Sidewalk Santas program seeks corporate sponsors for the annual Hope and Hearth food voucher program. This world-renowned campaign offers unlimited media and marketing opportunities for increasing brand visibility and sales from Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve. The Sidewalk Santas spread good will and cheer as they collect donations from passersby in high-traffic retail areas in Manhattan during the holiday season. Media, marketing and co-sponsorship opportunities are available for Sidewalk Santa School and Campaign Kick-Off Day. Align your corporate name with Sidewalk Santa and benefit from television, radio and print coverage that typically generates over 25 million media impressions.

Uplifting Homeless Children

On a recent Saturday, 15 Goldman Sachs employees treated more than 20 children from University Family Residence, one of our shelters for homeless families, to a day at Liberty State Science Park, New Jersey. Goldman Sachs arranged and paid for bus transportation to the park, as well as entry fees and lunch for everyone. The children had a real hands-on experience with sea life in the touch tank and explored the scientific exhibits.

Fun Under the Big Top

MTV donated tickets to see Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus to 20 children enrolled at the Bronx Early Learning Center, our preschool for developmentally delayed children. The children, and accompanying staff, were treated to exclusive box seats and special attention, along with lunch. Hard to say whether the elephants, performing dogs, or scary tigers were the most fun. Many "oohs" and "aahs" were heard during the daredevil trapeze act.

Youngsters Travel to The Stars

Fifteen children from Lydia Hoffman Family Residence, another of our shelters for homeless families in the Bronx, explored the final frontier on a recent Saturday when 15 Goldman Sachs employees sponsored a trip to the new Rose Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History. The day featured lunch and a viewing of the hot new planetarium show featuring narration by Tom Hanks. And each child had the attention of a caring adult all to him or herself for one day.

Corporate Volunteers Work in the Rain to Beautify Centennial Garden

Volunteers from the Hippodrome, Bernstein Real Estate and Viacom's Nickelodeon division raked, weeded and mulched Volunteers of America's Centennial Garden at West 84th Street and Riverside Drive on a soggy Saturday in April. Despite the rain, the volunteers enjoyed their experience. Botanical specialists from the New York City Parks Department guided them through the columbine and roses and provided guidance and direction as they worked to give the garden a face-lift.
